Subject: IMPORTANT - Information regarding City Facility Assessments

 

Good afternoon-

The City of Houston is currently conducting condition reviews of all City facilities in preparation for the next bond election. 

The reviews started with Police and Fire facilities, and have now moved on to the remaining departments, including the Library.

Facility assessment teams, consisting of 3 design/construction professionals, will be visiting each of HPL’s owned facilities, starting today, and continuing through May 4. You can review the full schedule here (https://hplnet.hpl.lib.tx.us/images/Library-Schedule.pdf ).   Note these days/times may be adjusted, so check the intranet site, under HPL News, regularly for updates.

Carter Roper, Stephen Chamberlain, or Wendy Heger will be accompanying the teams at each location, opening each room for the assessors to photograph and review. Most assessments will last less than 3 hours. Jones and JIB will take several days.

Some of the assessments are scheduled when our libraries are open to the public; this cannot be avoided if the overall project timeline is to be met. However, the assessors understand the behavior required and that people cannot be photographed.

The result will be some excellent information for preparing a plan for the next bond election. Also, GSD property management will have a powerful tool to show facility maintenance needs to elected officials, plus a prioritized database of work that needs to be done with costs.
