Service Area Map Project

All,

The Communications Division is sending large maps which will sit on an easel to every location to conduct a survey of where our customers live. The maps are to be delivered by the end of this week. The survey will begin on June 11th.

NL Admin sent the managers this information about it:

HPL conducted a similar survey in 2000 as part of the Strategic Master Plan.  This survey has 2 parts.  Each location will receive a large map to be placed on an easel near a service desk and visible to customers.  The map is of the entire Harris County, with an inset of the immediate area around the library.  Staff will ask customers to place a push pin on the map nearest where they live.  If customers don’t live in Harris County, then they can place pins on the margins of the map closest to where they live.

We will also be doing a paper and web survey asking a series of questions such as:  How often do you use the library, what do you typically use, ratings of services, and what do they think HPL will be doing 3-5 years from now.

I realize that at all three of our locations, we serve large numbers of folks who do not reside in Houston or Harris County. As stated above, they can give the closest approximation they can.

Please let me know if I can be of any assistance.

John
