WANTED: Readers' Advisors

Good afternoon all,
I hope everyone’s doing well. As many of you may know, summertime is the busiest time of year for our “Have You Read…” online book suggestion service (http://www2.houstonlibrary.org/cgi-bin/services/raform.pl), and we’re looking for a few good readers’ advisors. For those of you unfamiliar with this service, here’s how it typically works:

  1. A patron submits his or her request through the form to readers.advisory@houstontx.gov.
  2. The request is forwarded to a “reading advisor” (this could be YOU!) for book suggestions.
  3. In a week (or less), the reading advisor forwards his or her suggestions back to readers.advisory@houstontx.gov.
  4. A list is prepared and sent to the patron via email, using the NextReads e-newsletter software.
If this sounds like something you’d be interested in helping us out with, please send an email to readers.advisory@houstontx.gov, and let us know your preferences for genre/subject, audience, format, etc.
If you have any questions or concerns about this, please let me (Sarah Borders) know.

Thanks,
Readers Advisory Team
