Hi.
Recently, you received a list from our Inventory Control unit requesting your help in tracking down 5000-6000 “On the FLY” records, created when a customer wants to check out a book that is no longer listed in the catalog.
Thanks to your efforts, most of these materials have been located or identified as lost. Those of you who have not yet completed your lists should do so by September 30, or as agreed upon with Inventory Control. Thanks again for your assistance in completing this project!
Tomorrow, Sara Karow will be sending out a large reference materials weeding list that she developed; her list will point you to adult reference materials that can be weeded from your collection. Not everyone will have each item on the list (there are over 700 titles on the list), but you should be able to clear out several linear feet of superseded or otherwise out-of-date volumes from your reference shelves. These Reference materials are pre-approved by Collection Development for discard. You should check your shelves for these items no later than October 31, 2011. This will be the first- and by far, the longest- of a series of monthly weeding lists to be developed by Collection Development staff. We hope you find these lists helpful. -Lin
