Subject: Circulating Periodicals - South-Belt Group
Hello
Hope everyone’s day is going well, this is just a quick note regarding Serials.
Attached is the e-mail sent out by Lin Swalley regarding changes on policy and procedures for Serials (Please see related blog post dated 09/21/2011)
In an effort to clarify and provide consistency for our group here are some updates/reminders:
· Only barcode what circulates at your location
o We can always revise the list of titles that circulate, but we want to make sure we use our most valuable resource (staff time/you) wisely
· · Only Six issues back on non-reference items
o Please keep these issues in the public area
§ NOTE –If a customer asks to check out a magazine that is not already barcoded; we may want to start barcoding that title
· ·Reference titles are kept for one year
o We are only required to keep National Geographic, but we will also keep Consumer Reports, an TIME magazines as a reference item.
· Please keep in mind we only send the magazine covers to discards; after removing the covers we can discard the issues to the recycle bins.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns
