Hello all,

I just wanted to alert everyone that the III server has been experiencing sporadic, short-term slowness today. This is a happening because of a flood of “runaway” webpac processes that are being sent to the server, but this also affects Millennium.

The hundreds of webpac processes buildup and then usually dissipate over the next few minutes or so, down to their normal 10-15 in number. Once this happens, Millennium also goes back to normal behavior.

We have been experiencing this problem off and on for the last few weeks and are working with III and our network group to see why and how these webpac attacks are happening. They seem to be coming from select IPs, some internal and some from remote customers, so it’s difficult to get a handle on what is causing the problem.
