Houston Housing Authority’s Housing Choice Voucher Program begins on August 20th at 8 a.m. and ends August 26th at midnight. Beginning August 13th, applicants with questions can call a special hotline:1-855-702-9130. The hotline will support English, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Chinese speakers as well as hearing impaired applicants.
Houston Housing Authority’s online application for the Housing Choice Voucher Program will be available at www.housingforhouston.com beginning August 20th. Customers may complete an application to sign up for an online lottery for the housing assistance waiting list. The application is offered in English and Spanish.
A couple of quick tips:

• Please ask customers to write down their confirmation number instead of printing it. 
• Please assure customers that the most important information on the application is their contact information: name, address, and telephone number. 
• If a customer does not know how much money is in a checking or saving's account, the Housing Authority has said that information can be attained by their staff at a later date. 
• For other information, counsel the customer to make a best guess. Once again, the actual information can be attained by HHA staff later. 
• The lottery is completely randomized so it does not matter if the application is completed on the first or last day of the program. (Note from John: Please make sure customers understand this. We're expecting that Monday to be really hopping at Blue Ridge.) 
• Applications are available entirely online. HHA does not accept print applications.
