Restoration of Library Hours - HPL

Dear HPL

In my memo to you on February 5, 2013 regarding  the restoration of Saturday hours in Neighborhood Libraries and Friday and Sunday hours at the Central Library, I asked you to stay tuned for updates.

I am pleased to report that we have filled 90 of the 109 positions required for the restoration of these hours and we are training new staff at a rapid pace. This is incredible and unprecedented in the City of Houston.

Kudos to the awesome collaboration between HPL and the HR department. This hiring process has been done  in an way no other City department has attempted before now. But, we had to get it done and we were on a mission to succeed.  The team leads are familiar to you – Meller Langford and the Customer Experience team, Ophelia Cespedes,  Tameka Hardison-Santa Cruz and Ceasar De La Rosa. To make this happen took a huge cast of talented folks from many areas of the HPL and HR working together in precision toward a common goal. My deep appreciation for their hard work which produced fantastic results.  Because of their dedication to this task we are welcoming a group of talented, customer focused new team members. I am depending on you to welcome our new team members and help them get adjusted to HPL.
Below is the list of locations and start dates for the restored service hours.
To our new team members – WELCOME TO HPL!!!
Best Regards,
Rhea Brown Lawson
