NEW HPL TRAINING PORTAL!!!

Greetings, Team:
Have you wanted to take some training courses for development purposes, but didn't know about any opportunities in the organization? Did you need a refresher course on Milcirc or some other library function, but didn't have the time or staffing levels to allow for off-site travel? Do you ever wonder how to get funding approved to attend training sessions of interest?
If you've answered yes to any of these questions, I have some good news to share with you! The Training and Professional Development Team has created an exciting, new Training Portal specifically designed to connect staff with the resources, tools and information that will allow for on-going training and development for staff at all levels in the organization.
The goal of the Training Portal is to provide innovative, customized training solutions to assist staff with successfully meeting training goals and expectations. The portal houses a variety of resources that support staff in their training journey. This portal offers a simple and easy way to access: (1) learning resources; (2) formal training guidelines, calendars and sessions; (3) current technology trends & articles; and (4) a tool to effectively communicate with Training Team members.
Below you will find two links. The first link will take you to a document that provides a brief introduction to the Training Portal and its 4 major components. The second link is to the Training Portal itself.

Please take some time to become familiar with this important resource. The Training Portal ultimately belongs to you – the staff at the Houston Public Library. It was created in direct response to some of the feedback that we received from staff regarding training issues and needs. It is a resource that we plan to update and revise as necessary, according to your needs, interests and preferences. We invite any and all feedback so that we may continue to provide you with a tool that is not only easy to navigate through, but is useful to you.
Managers/supervisors – if you have new staff members that may not have access to email yet, please share this message with them… thanks in advance! Additionally, we are working with IT to place the link on the Intranet for easy access. Please be on the lookout for the link soon! In the interim, please be sure to bookmark it!
As you begin checking out this new resource, please feel free to use the communication tool within the Training Portal to shoot us some feedback! We’d love to hear from you!
Best regards,
Suzy Benton, MLIS
System-wide Training Coordinator
