Staff Meeting 4/5/18

Staff Meeting 4/5/18

Managers Meeting:
Digital Strategies
  • Hotspots: after 3 days of being overdue, must call IT to have it reactivated.
Also, when the hotspot is returned check the cord that it is good condition.
  • Staff blog (on google docs) will eventually be phased out and a new one will be
available through the intranet

  • Printers: will be an audit of all printers we have at the branch (possible we may lose a
couple).  Remember to be frugal about what you are printing. When possible use the
MFP500 in the workroom because we do have at least one replacement toner for that printer.
Digital Fluency Program
  • Digital fluency is an ability to use technology to achieve desired outcomes
professionally and personally

  • Basically to gauge staff level of proficiency with computers.  Modules will cover
computer basics, internet basics, Microsoft Word 2016, Microsoft Excel 2016,
Windows 7, Email.

  • 85% minimum passing score; retakes are allowed within window; training
resources available

  • 3hrs training credit, let me know when all modules are complete and
you have passed

  • Dates: April 23 - May 20

.
Reminders:

  • When picking up, this includes straightening the magazine area especially the
Houston Chronicle
  • If the phone rings at least 3 times, answer it!  Even if you are not on book drop or
on the desk.
  • Everyone needs to out on the floor the last 30 minutes of the day.  This helps to
customers to leave more promptly and ensures the library is completely straight and neat
for the next day.
  • Mentally ill people- remember your training about homeless customers.  They deserve
the same treatment as any other customer. If they begin to get especially loud or
threatening, go get Analisa or me and the security guard.

  • We will be having 5 weeks of Jazz Houston programs for area elementary school.
Starts April 11.
  • Have people pay credit card balances on self check machines.
  • Please make sure that the items on our hold shelf are for VIN customers and don’t
belong to other locations.  Recently, I have found holds for STE, RIN and a couple of
other places on our hold shelf.
