Hello all.

 

You should see two changes in your adult and juvenile borrower record templates when you open your next session of Milcirc.  They have been edited to include prompts for entering the birth date and to include a registration location note field that is preset for your branch. 

 

The birth date fixed field prompt was added to save staff time when entering new records.  This is the field that will be used to store birth date for all records, youth and adult alike.  Please continue to fill in the variable length ‘e’ field in youth records until instructed otherwise.  The ‘e’ field is tied to collection agency reports and is needed until we are able to substitute the fixed length birth date field.

 

The registration location (REG LOCATION) variable length note field has been added in order to free us up to allow customers to change their Home Library online.  Because hold pick up locations are tied to home library, customers who wish to pick up their holds at a different location from where their registration was entered into the system must change the pickup location for each individual hold.  Since HPL also stores registration forms by Home Library, we have to know where a form was entered in order to retrieve it when necessary.  The registration location will now be stored in the new REG LOCATION field.  No additional data entry is required on your part.  You only need to verify that that location is correct and click through the prompt when it comes up.
